Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities starts an initiative to clean, restore statues in public Squares

CAIRO - 14 February 2021:The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities began an initiative for cleaning and maintenance of statues in public squares in all Egyptian governorates, under the direction of Dr. Khaled El Enany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, and under the direct supervision of Dr. Mostafa Waziry, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities.

 
 This initiative is part of the ministry’s program to display statues of Egyptian symbols and art pieces in squares, and to upgrade Egyptian Squares.
 
 Aswan was the first governorate in which this initiative started.
 
A specialized team of restorers from the antiquities region of Aswan began cleaning and maintaining some statues, and the team will finish the maintenance and cleaning work of all statues, respectively.
