CAIRO – 4 January 2020: The Sultan bin Ali Al-Owais Creative Award announced the closure of the nomination for the seventeenth edition 2020-2021 awards, after 1,847 candidates in all fields applied for participation.

 

321 candidates applied for the prize in the field of poetry. In the fields of story, novels and plays 480 candidates applied, in literary studies and criticism 285 candidates applied, in the humanities and future studies 496 candidates applied and in the scientific cultural achievement 265 candidates applied.

 

Al-Owais Foundation said in a statement that 97 writers and thinkers won the award during previous sessions, as well as 4 cultural institutions.

 

The foundation had sent more than six thousand invitations to nominate, in addition to more than six thousand brochures of information about the institution and the award to most universities, academies, cultural institutions, associations, literary unions, publishing houses and other institutions of thought and culture to apply to the seventeenth session 2020-2021.

 

The Sultan Bin Ali Al-Owais Cultural Foundation had announced the opening of nominations for the 17th edition early January 2020.

 

The foundation took the initiative to send nomination forms to most Arab universities, institutions, associations, unions, literary and cultural unions and publishing houses.

 

As stipulated by the rules and regulations in force in the foundation, the creator has the right to nominate himself/herself directly to the General Secretariat.

 

Five Arab writers are also entitled to nominate whomever they see suitable for the award, provided that the candidate agrees to that when addressed by the General Secretariat of the award..

 

The award is divided into five fields: poetry, fiction, novel and theater, literary and criticism studies, human and future studies, and the Cultural and Scientific Achievement Award.
