CAIRO – 21 December 2020: Bayt al-Sennari, in cooperation with the Wamda Band presented the second Aragouz Festival under the title "Puppet Inspiration", over a period of three days in the archaeological headquarters of Bayt al-Sennari in the Sayyida Zeinab neighborhood in Cairo.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina indicated in a statement issued Monday that the festival included a series of performances that embodied the beauty of heritage while shedding light on some contemporary issues and celebrated great creators and poets.

On the sidelines of the festival, a group of workshops and seminars were held on the image of the Egyptian Aragouz (Puppet) in Egyptian cinema, and how to open new horizons and topics to make Al-Aragouz more modern and realistic.

This is in the context of interest in the art of Aragouz as one of the elements of human heritage, after it was placed on the urgent preservation lists by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2018.
