Amir El Masry: ‘The best support is the one that you receive from your country’

CAIRO - 11 December 2020: The 42nd edition of Cairo International Film Festival concluded its events on December 10.

 

The British movie “ Limbo” staring Egyptian International star Amir el Masry managed to grab three awards.

 

 

 

The first award is FIPRECI (Samir Farid) award.

 

“ The best support is the one that you receive from your country” El Masry said after receiving FIPRECI award.

 

El Masry thanked the movie director Ben Sharrock.

 

“ I am honored to present Henry Barakat award for best artistic contribution which to Limbo movie” said the International competition jury member famed Egyptian producer Gaby Khoury.

 

After receiving the second award El Masry said “I would like to thank Cairo International Film Festival and Mohamed Hefzy for believing in the movie.”

 

El Masry to thanked Limbo film crew, the director and the producer.

 

 

The Golden Pyramid Award for best film goes to Limbo movie as well.

 

“I would like to thank the jury members and Mohamed Hefzy” El Masry said after receiving the Golden Pyramid Award for best movie.

 

El Masry asked the attendees who didn’t watch the movie to watch it, hoping that they like it.

“ Limbo” director Ben Sharrock who wasn’t able to attend the festival recorded a message in a video that was featured in CIFF closing ceremony.

“ Thank you for this award, it is incredible news, Cairo is very close to my heart” Ben Sharrock said.

 

Ben Sharrock added that Amir el Masry is a great actor, without him they wouldn’t have made this movie.

El Masry recounted that the film crew has faces a lot of obstacles while making this movie.

 

“During the film we faced many challenges. None of which are as tough as the challenges that refugees face around the world,” Al-Masry said.
