CAIRO - 5 December 2020: Egyptian movie “ Hazr Tagawel” (Curfew) gained wide praises on its world premiere at Cairo International Film Festival which took place on December 4 at Cairo Opera House.

 

 

A notable group of stars were keen to attend the red carpet of the movie which is started with a speech from the movie director and script writer famed Egyptian filmmaker Amir Ramses.

 

The attendees interacted much with the dazzling performance of Elham Chahine, Amina Khalil, Ahmed Magdy and Kamel el Basha.

 

The maestro of the movie Amir Ramses managed to get out of the movie cast a dazzling and credible performance.

The only thing on her mind is that her mother murdered her father.
 
On the other hand, ‘Faten” refuses to reveal the main reason of the murder, leaving her daughter believing all the rumors said by the neighbors, that she cheated on her husband with ‘Yehia”.
 
‘Yehia’ never tried to defend himself because of the promise he made to “Faten”.
 
This situation puts “Leila”, Faten’s daughter in conflict between rejecting her own mother and gradually missing her.
 
Mohamed Hefzy, The President of the Festival, previously said that the audience of Cairo International Film Festival are always interested in any participation of an Egyptian movie in the international competition.
 
It is a challenge that the jury undertakes every year to choose the right Egyptian film that will represent the Egyptian cinema internationally and able to compete amidst with the most important films of the year internationally.
This was achieved at the 42nd edition throught the world premiere of the feature film “Curfew”.
 
 

In the light of the COVID-19 pandemic, CIFF has changed its date to take place from December 2-10.

 
The 42nd edition opening ceremony was held under strict WHO-approved precautionary measures taken by the Egyptian government.
 
Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) is one of the oldest cultural events in Africa and the Middle East, and is one of the 15 festivals in Africa and the Middle East to be accorded category “A” status by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) in Paris.
 
 

CIFF granted the Golden Pyramid to veteran screen writer Waheed Hamed and Faten Hamam Award to Egyptian superstar Mona Zaki.

 

CIFF granted veteran writer Christopher Hampton the Lifetime Acheivment Award.

 

Hefzy said that the 42nd edition houses 84 films.

 

20 films will have their world premiere at Cairo Film Festival”.

 

CIFF this year celebrates the passage of a century on Federico Fellini birth with organizing an exhibition to him.

 

The 42nd edition will witness the release of three new awards.

 

Watch iT will present a new Award worth 5000$ and Nut Award which is amounted to 10000$ will be presented for the best movie discussing women issues.

The acclaimed Russian filmmaker Alexander Sokurov is the head of the jury members and veteran actress Lebleba will serve as a jury member.
