CAIRO - 3 December 2020:The 42nd edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) kicked off on December 2, amid strict precautionary measures, and in accordance to the requirements presented by the Egyptian ministry of health and the World Health Organization.


CIFF head Mohamed Hefzy presented Lifetime Achievement Award to acclaimed writer Christopher Hampton.

 

Hefzy said that Hampton has a strong relationship with Egypt.


Christopher Hampton explained that he spent 5 years from his childhood in Alexandria.

“ My father was a huge fan of cinema and he used to take me to see very unsuitable films and that’s how my love for cinema was born” Hampton said.

Hampton said that Lifetime Achievement Award is something scary because it may mean that the journey came to its end.

“I love this country and I dedicate this award to Egypt” Hampton said.
