CAIRO - 25 October 2020: Egypt's El Gouna Film Festival organized a masterclass given by the acclaimed Indian actor Ali Fazal on October 25.

The masterclass titled ''Conversation with Ali Fazal. In the masterclass Fazal walked us through the tricks of a trade in a riveting masterclass, guiding aspiring actors on how to propel their careers to great heights, and venturing out to any and every opportunity that comes your way.

 

According to Fazal there is no set path for an actor to make it in the film industry. The stipulate that only Hollywood actors can reach international acclaim is a misconception, and Indian actor Ali Fazal is the walking truth of it.

The accomplished actor started as a breakout star in Bollywood, and then quickly became an international icon notable for his terrific performances.

Fazal has worked and starred alongside greats such as Judi Dench in 2017’s ‘Victoria & Abdul’ and Kenneth Branagh in Disney’s ‘Death on the Nile’ and now stars in the hit Amazon series Mirzapur.

 

From a breakout role in Bollywood, to a cameo in Fast and Furious 7, to starring alongside Judi Dench, Fazal career catapulted from India to global stardom at an unprecedented rate.

Despite what seems like an overnight success, Ali’s journey has been a long one that eventually saw him collaborating with some of cinema’s greatest minds. Be it blockbusters, indies or festival darlings, Fazal has already amassed a great forte so early into his career.

 

At the discussion, Fazal emphasized the importance of women’s role in any society, and his belief in empowering them and supporting their rights.

He explained that it is a concept instilled in him by his mother who believed in women›s power, as well as his friend Richa Chadda, who became one of the prominent female activists supporting women's rights. On the other hand, Bushra expressed her great admiration for the actor›s work and his support for women and their rights.

When asked about Egyptian cinema, Fazal admitted that although he doesn’t master Arabic language, he is still a big fan of the international Egyptian actor Omar Sharif. He also expressed his happiness and gratitude to attend the El Gouna Film Festival, and his interest in participating in Egyptian films. Offering an answer to another question, Fazal stated that acting is hard work, and the more roles he plays in different movies, the more an actor faces challenges, and that only the truly passionate manage to succeed.
