Egypt’s culture min. assigns Khaled Galal president of Cultural Production Sector for another year

CAIRO – 1 September 2020: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem issued a decree assigning Khaled Galal as the president of the Cultural Production Sector for another year.

 

For his part, Galal extended his thanks and appreciation to Abdel Dayem for her precious confidence and continuous support. Galal also said that he is proud and honored of this choice, and is happy to work with such an esteemed artist and a great administrative stature.

 

It is noteworthy that Galal had obtained a scholarship in theatrical directing and traveled to Rome to study artistic experiences of the West. When he decided to return, former Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni appointed him director of the Youth Theater, when he was only 28 years old.

 

Galal then became the president of the Artistic Creativity Center, then presided over the El-Ghad Theater, headed the Artistic House for Popular and Performing Arts, became the  president of the Cultural Development Fund sector, and then has been presiding over of the Cultural Production Affairs Sector since 2015.

 

Director Khaled Galal won the State Prize for Artistic Creativity in the field of directing and also the Excellence in Arts Award in 2010.

 

That is in addition to several awards granted to him in international and national festivals, and from a group of the most famous and most prestigious Egyptian newspapers and magazines.

 

Also, Galal was honored by Egypt’s President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi at the closing session of the World Youth Forum 2019, after directing the play “El-Mohakama” (The Trial) that was shown during the activities of the World Youth Theater 2019.
