CAIRO - 31 August 2020: Famed Egyptian actor Amr Youssef will play the leading role in the TV series “El-Malek” (the king) scheduled to be released in Ramadan 2021.
Youssef will embody the role of king Ahmose I, who managed to fight the Hyksos, defeated them and chased them out of the Nile Delta.
The series is based on “Thebes at War“, a novel by late great novelist and Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz.
"El Malek' script is written by Mohamed, Khaled, and SherineDiab. The series is directed by Hussein al-Manbawi and produced
by leading production company Synergy and Aroma, under the auspices of the United Media Services.
“El Malek” will be a massive production for Synergy and Aroma as the series incidents house wars, horses, fights, massive pharaonic decorations and large visual effects.
The massive production will be the first real pharaonic work in the modern era.
It will shed light on the lifestyle of the pharaohs at that time in a realistic way.
It is worth mentioning that Youssef and Dina el-Sherbiny will start shooting his first horror film “El-Tahweeda” (the Lullaby), produced and directed by Tarek Al-Erian, in September.
“El- Tahweeda” marks the third cooperation between Youssef and Erian after the sequel “Welad Rezk”.
Born on December 23, 1980, Amr Youssef began his career in entrainment with television commercials and music videos.
Late great actor Nour al-Sherif gave Youssef his first big opportunity in the TV series “Al-Daly” in 2007.
Youssef's repertoire houses a number of successful movies such as “Nour Ainy”, “Rad Fa’al”, “Hepta: The Last Lecture”, and “Welad Rezk” among others.
He also achieved huge success in the TV series "Grand Hotel".
Youssef presented a number of successful series such as “Zarf Eswed”, “Ad Tanazoly” ,“Niran Sadeeka”, “Al-Mowatn X” among others.
In 2017, Youssef married famed Syrian actress, Kinda Alloush. In 2019, their first child, Hayat, was born.
