CAIRO – 26 June 2017: The successful drama series “Downton Abbey” may soon be made into a movie. The show, which first aired in 2010, is one of the most popular series in the world; it has aired in about 150 countries.

Michael Edelstein, president of NBC Universal International Studios, announced that production for the film will begin in 2018. "We are working on getting the script right and then we've got to figure out how to get the (cast) together. Because as you know, people go on and do other things. But we're hopeful to make a movie sometime next year," Edelstein said.

“I think we have got a film in us. I hope it happens,” said Julian Fellowes, the show’s writer.

“Downton Abbey” ended in 2015. The show revolves around the fictitious aristocratic Crawley family in England and their servants at the time of the Titanic’s sinking and World War I.
