CAIRO – 18 June 2020: Egypt’s Musicians Syndicate decided to refer a number of its active members to investigation and to directly file lawsuits against others on June 19.

The aforementioned members violated the law, the rules of public order, and the executive regulations of the union by publishing false news that would disturb the public peace and create confusion, especially within the General Assembly.

Among the members are singer Khaled al-Amir and Ahmed Nasrallah, who called for demonstrating and disturbing the public peace.

Maestro Ahmed Ramadan, the union's general secretary, confirmed that the council also decided to cancel the work permits of a number of associates, who participated in the same movement and un-righteously attacked the syndicate's work without valid reasons or evidence on a number of personal and group pages on social media.

These members previously published malicious videos calling for protests and demonstrations at a time the entire country suffers from many crises that reqiure everyone to join hands for the common good, which caused a violation of the rules of public order, an explicit violation of the law.

Ramadan indicated that the investigation committee headed by the deputy councilor and vice-premier of the State Council will start its work as of July 1.
