CAIRO - 15 June 2020: Sabah Abdel Razek, director-general of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, said that the development work in the museum resumed and did not stop even after the spread of the novel virus.

Abdel Razek also stated to the press that the development of the exhibiting scenario of the museum was completed in the first floor of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir for over 200 pieces of prehistoric artifacts. The hall will be officially opened within the upcoming months.

Head of the Central Department of Engineering Affairs, Antiquities and Museums at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Waad Abul Ela said the development of the general site of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir is underway, while implementing precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Abul Ela also stated that the number of workers on site has been reduced as nearly 97 percent of the site's development work has been completed, which included entrances, the museum’s garden and outer fences.

Moreover, Abul Ela further explained that the exterior façade of museum has been painted using the same previous colors, and the three external gates in the main façade were developed to easily open for the entry and exit of visitors and transferring artifacts.
