CAIRO - 12 May 2020: The General Egyptian Book Organization, in cooperation with the Cairo International Cultural Salon, is organizing a special panel discussion on the social effects of COVID-19 in the Arab region.

The discussion panel will be held at 10 p.m. on May 12 and will be broadcast live on the official Facebook accounts of the GEBO and the Cairo International Cultural Salon.

The discussion panel comes within the framework of the Ministry of Culture's e-initiative “Stay At Home; Culture is Between Your Hands” launched by Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem, with the aim of raising the awareness of the masses to combat the novel coronavirus.

The salon hosts former Tunisian Minister of Women, Family and Childhood Neziha Labidi and member of the Presidential Council for Social Responsibility in Egypt Randa Rizk. In the second part of the discussion panel, Syrian poet Siham al-Shaashaa will be hosted.

The panel is moderated by poet and journalist Mohamed Hamida, founder of the Cairo International Cultural Salon, and plastic artist Maha el-Sebaei from Syria. It will last for 80 minutes divided into two parts on the Cairo International Book Fair page.

The General Egyptian Book Organization, through its YouTube channel, will also broadcast its creative printed and visual content for culture enthusiasts.

The visual archive package available for broadcasting during the month of Ramadan includes the contributions of author Saad el-Din Wahba, Mahmoud Yassin, late poet Abdel Rahman el-Abnoudi, legendary soccer phenomenon Mahmoud el-Khatib, poet Syed Hegab, veteran journalist Makram Mohamed Ahmed, poet Farouk Gweida, star Yehya el-Fakhrani, late Dr. Ahmed Zewail, late International writer Naguib Mahfouz, and journalist and writer Anis Mansour.
