CAIRO – 14 February 2020: ‘’TO ALL THE BOYS: P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU’’ movie was released globally on Netflix on February 12, 2020, on the occasion of the Valentine’s Day .

The soft romantic movie is directed by Michael Fimognari and stars Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, Jordan Fisher, Anna Cathcart, Janel Parrish, John Corbett, Sarayu Blue, Ross Butler, Madeleine Arthur, Emilija Baranc, Trezzo Mahoro and Holland Taylor.

TO ALL THE BOYS: P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU is based on the New York Times best-selling YA romance novel, P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU by Jenny Han.

It’s a new year and Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and Peter (Noah Centineo) are no longer pretending to be a couple as they were in part one they are a couple. And, as Lara Jean navigates a trove of official first love with Peter she finds herself leaning more on Kitty and Margot (Anna Cathcart and Janel Parrish), Chris (Madeleine Arthur), and an unexpected new confidant, Stormy (Holland Taylor), to help her manage the complex emotions that come with this new chapter of balancing a relationship and figuring out her authentic self.

‘’TO ALL THE BOYS: P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU’’ managed to make that difficult equation, having an emotional romantic movie that is very close to a fairy tale one in most of its scenes while preserving the realistic line through conveying honestly the sentiments and disputes that occur in teens love or in other words the first love.

The movie takes us as mature people into the world of these teens and for under 20 audience they will definitely find themselves in Lara Jean love story.

‘’TO ALL THE BOYS: P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU’’ is a very simple and soft romantic movie, the geniality of the film lies in its simplicity.

The movie smoothly navigates the trove of official firsts, first real kiss, first real date, first Valentine’s Day, first eyes shine, first love anxiety and even the first tears of the first break up.

‘’TO ALL THE BOYS: P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU’’ reflects the meaning and the dilemmas of the first teens love.

Lara Jean was learning the meaning of love step by step through her relationship with peter and at the same time was teaching us as audience facts about love in a very easy and simple way.

Her conversations with herself were full of clear an important love quotes and messages that were directly dedicated to her but indirectly sent to us as audience, revealing to us many things about first love and even reminding us of what we know about love in case we forgot it.

‘’ People say fairy tales are real but sometimes happily ever after is very real’’ Lara Jean said that to herself directly before she went on her first date with Peter. The shine in her eyes along with the expressive sound track established in our hearts these dazzling newly born love feelings mixed with the excitement and enthusiasm that usually comes out with the first date.

These energetic romantic feelings were transferred to the audience, especially the teens who if they are in love will find themselves in many of Lara Jean and peter scenes, they will feel that this couple speaks on their behalf and if not they will be eager to fall in love to live the glamourous moments Lara Jean and peter are living.

‘’This is my first date, I have never been a girlfriend before,I hope I am good at that’’ Lara Jean said to Peter who just gave her contentment look and kissed her hand. He just understood her anxiety without uttering a word.

‘’TO ALL THE BOYS: P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU’’ is full of romantic and pure love scenes that reflect the innocence that is the main characteristic of first love.

The soundtrack of the movie played an important role in making us live the romantic mood and feel as if we are living with them their story or imagine ourselves with the ones we love.

Lara Jean: ‘’ I just don’t want us to break each other hearts.’’
Peter: ‘’ I promise, I am not going to break your heart.’’
Lara Jean: ‘’ I promise not to break your heart’’

In romantic movies what is more important than the words is the eye contact and looks, in this scene the dialogue was so simple but what made it emotional and touchy their looks and the shine in their eyes.

The movie contains another minor love line which is Lara Jean’s father love story with their neighbour which wasn’t so much highlighted but added a minor touch of romance. It made us feel that love was in the air until Lara Jean life was turned upside down when John Ambrose (Jordan Fisher), another recipient of one of Lara Jean’s old love letters, enters her life again and sent her a reply letter.

At that moment she discovered that she must rely on herself more than ever as she’s confronted with her first real dilemma: Can a girl be in love with two boys at once?
Lana Condor brilliantly reflects the confusion of the girl with no experience in love when she finds herself confused and can’t translate her feelings well.

To add more complications to their love, Lara Jean found that she can’t over Peter’s previous love relationship with his ex, Jane.
Lana Condor transferred to us the feeling of unsecured she had about Peter’s past relationship with Jane, because for every first she was having with him he already had his with her.
So when her friend told her that Peter met his ex, she got jealous and decided to break up.
All this mess was meant to be introduced to remind us and teach Lara Jean and all those who are in love for the first time that love doesn’t contain solely glamorous and dazzling moments, it has its hardships, tears and break ups as well.

But this crazy thing about love is that once everything is a mess and turned upside down, all of a sudden like magic, everything become great again and glitters spread everywhere.
With the first kiss with John Ambrose after the breakup she discovered that her true love was Peter and they became with each other again, and as her new confidant, Stormy said ‘’ You have to kiss the wrong person to know the right.’’

The director did a great job casting the actors especially the three main : Lana Condor, Noah Centineo and Jordan Fisher. Three of them performed naturally without any kind of exaggeration or sophistication. They made us believe that they are teens under 20, despite they are in their 20s.

The script was simple, to the point and nothing new or innovative in it, but what made it amusing was the actors performance and the good and clear picture produced by the director of photography.

If you want to watch a simple, romantic and soft movie that teach you a lot of facts about first love, then ‘’TO ALL THE BOYS: P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU’’ is your perfect choice.
