CAIRO - (MENA) 31 January 2020: - Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled Al Anany on Friday issued directives to officials to begin renovation works of the shrines of Al Bait (the Prophet Muhammed descendants) in Al Bahnasa archaeological site in El Minya governorate, Upper Egypt.

The Head of the Islamic, Coptic and Jewish Sector said the renovation project will be implemented in three phases to turn the village a tourist attraction.

Al Bahnasa is known for having many Prophet Muhammed's descendants buried in it following several major battles during the Islamic conquest of Egypt.

Between 3,000 and 5,000 citizens visit the tombs and archaeological sites in the village every Friday.
