CAIRO - 23 December 2019: The Ministry of Antiquities managed to open a large number of archaeological projects, numbering 23 projects in total in 2019.

ET sheds light on the newly inaugurated museums and archaeological sites in 2019 in the following lines.

January 28, 2019: Two obelisks from Tanis City in Sharqiyah Governorate were relocated at the new City of Culture and Arts in the New Administrative Capital.

March 3, 2019: Groundwater Reduction Project in Kom el Shoqafa.

March 3, 2019: Completion of the Wardian Cemetery restoration project in Alexandria.

March 25, 2019: Groundwater Reduction Project in Kom Ombo.

April 5, 2019: Abydos Archaeological Zone Development Project in Sohag.

April 5, 2019: Groundwater Reduction Project for the Osirians in Sohag.

April 5, 2019: Restoration and re-raising of the King Ramses II statue in the monuments of Akhmim in Sohag Governorate.

April 18, 2019: The facade of Luxor Temple was completed after completing the restoration of the third and final statue of King Ramses II in front of the first edifice of the temple.

April 19, 2019: Opet Temple at Karnak opens for visitors after restoration.

May 2, 2019: Fatima Al Shaqraa Mosque is opened in Darb Al Ahmar area in Cairo after the restoration process was completed.

May 3, 2019: Opening of Al-Kashef and Al-Mujahideen mosques in Asyut Governorate.

May 9, 2019: The completion of the first phase of Saint Catherine's Monastery development project, which included the restoration of the library and the Transfiguration Church.

June 28, 2019: The Pyramid of Senusret II of Fayoum opened for visit for the first time since its discovery in 1889.

June 28, 2019: Khun Aslbay Mosque in Fayoum is opened after the completion of its restoration - the mosque has been closed since 2013.

July 11, 2019: Development of the Tree of the virgin (Mary) area begins.

July 12, 2019: The sarcophagus of King Tutankhamun moved from the tomb in Luxor to the Grand Egyptian Museum, and underwent restoration for the first time since the tomb was discovered.

July 14, 2019: Opening of the Naguib Mahfouz Museum, affiliated to the Ministry of Culture, in Tekeyet Abul Dahab in Al-Azhar.

August 8, 2019: Relocation of the Andalusia Garden obelisk in Zamalek and its installment in the new city of El Alamein.

August 31, 2019: The Antiquities Museum in Tanta opened for visit after its development - the museum has been closed since 2000.

September 8, 2019: Two tombs (TT159 and TT286) were restored in Draa Abul Naga necropolis in Luxor.

September 29, 2019: Opening of Prince Yousef Kamal Palace in Nagaa Hammadi after its restoration.

September 29, 2019: Restoration of the Badaba Monastery in Nagaa Hammadi.
