CAIRO – 26 November 2019: The sixth edition of Cairo Film Connection (CFC) has announced its winning film projects.

The CFC took place this year during the Cairo Industry Days of the Cairo International Film Festival.


The Awards winners are:

‘’Shameem’’ movie by Karim Rahbani won an invitation to its producer to attend Rotterdam Lab 2020.

The Arab Radio and Television (ART) award $10,000 cash award for a feature-length project in development went to ‘’Leila and I’’ movie by Maggie Morgan, produced by Shady Habashy.

The Iraqi Cinema award and $5,000 cash award for a feature length project in development or post-production went to ‘’A House for Expats’’ movie by Naji Ismail.

The MAD Solutions and Ergo Award Distribution in the Arab World award with $30,000 Minimum Guarantee for feature-length project in development or in post-production went to ‘The Life and Times of Omar Sharif’’ movie by Mark Lotfy and Axel Petersen, produced by Muhammad Taymour and Sigrid Helleday.


Rotana Group's award and the $10,000 cash award for a feature-length project in development or in post-production went to ‘’About Her’’ movie by Islam El-Azzazi, produced by Dina Farouk and Rina Khoury

This sixth edition of Cairo Film Connection showcased 16 films in post-production or in development from across the Arab world.

Jury members of Cairo Film Connection includes : Egyptian screenwriter Mariam Naoum, Ida Martins, founder and managing director of Media Luna New Films, and George David, producer and consultant in film and television.

Motored by the Arab Cinema Centre (ACC) and five of its partners, the awards were granted to feature-length projects in development or in post-production.
