Hefzy to inaugurate Cairo Industry Days on Nov.22

CAIRO – 22 November 2019: Head of Cairo International Film Festival Mohamed Hefzy inaugurated Cairo Industry Days program on Friday November 22.

The opening event of the Cairo Industry Days program was entitled “Around the World Exploration of Film Production,” featuring acclaimed Hollywood producer, financier and international sales agent Stuart Ford, Chairman and CEO of AGC Studios.

At the beginning of his speech Hefzy thanked all participants in this second edition of the program.

The head of CIFF revealed that Cairo Industry Days was tailor made to create a mutual dialogue between film practitioners and inspire all talented people working in the cinema industry.

Ford recounted his own journey through the industry, and noted the changing nature of film production and distribution in the contemporary world. In his view, with the existence of Netflix and other modern distribution platforms, filmmakers are witnessing an industry-wide revolution.

To co-op with this revolution, he advised producers to keep a number of things in mind such as creativity; determining the target audience; how to produce the film and whether this production will require a certain loan; and the time frame for production.

Most important of all, he concluded, is the content being put forward. Well-written scripts that speak the filmmaker’s truth are what makes a producer believe in a screen
