CAIRO - 30 October 2019: The Supreme Council of Culture, in cooperation with the National Library and Archives, is organizing a cultural evening entitled: "Memory of a Homeland, Biographies and Heroism" on Oct. 30 at 6 pm.

These cultural events are part of the events organized by the Ministry of Culture to commemorate the glorious October victory.

The seminar will be attended by the artist Ahmed Nawar, Khalaf al-Miri and the journalist Mohamed el-Shafei.

It is noteworthy that in 1956 the decision was issued to establish the Supreme Council for the enforcing of Arts and Literature, as an independent entity attached to the Council of Ministers.

It seeks to coordinate governmental and civil efforts in the fields of arts and literature. The council was the first of its kind in the Arab world. This led many Arab countries to follow the example of Egypt and form similar councils.

Two years later, the council became specialized in the support of the social sciences. For nearly 25 years, the Supreme Council of Arts, Literature and Social Sciences has exercised its role in Egypt's cultural and intellectual life.
