‘I Read’ initiative announces names of Short Story competitors

CAIRO - 22 October 2019: “I Read” initiative, led by Shirin Rashid, the founder of the initiative, announced the short list of the Short Story competition, entitled “Mystery in Ancient Egypt”. The short list published on the official website of the initiative, and on Facebook included the following names:

Nesma Gamal, Amr el-Badali, Islam Mohamed el-Sherbini, Ahmed Afifi, Karim Saad, Moawia Tarek el-Zahabi, Ahmed Khalifa, Haitham Adel Youssef, Hadeer el-Sayed, Aya Sherif, Rami Wafa, Ahmed Magdy Mohamed, Rawan Ayman Fekry, Khaled Nasr, Ahmed Mahmoud el-Ruby, Rawan Mamdouh Hassan, Marwan Mohieddin al-Saeed, Yasmin Hussein Diab, Mahmoud Refaat, Adham Mahrous Abdel Aziz, Mohamed Helal Azouz, Noura Moslehi Noureddine, Ali Sayed Mohamed, Sama Khaled Abdel Awaiz, Ahmed Rabie, Shady Aziza, Mina Michel Shaker, Walid Ragab el-Sayed Khalil, Ahmed Zakaria Fathi, Rasha Fawzi, Sarah Amr Refaat, Marwa Mohamed, Elham Zidan, Mostafa Magdy Mohamed, Mahmoud Ashour Abdel Wahab, Tahira el- Sayed Mahdi, Ahmed Mahmoud Gad el-Karim, Ali Kassem el-Shanawany, Mohamed Ragab Shehata, Amr Hussein Mohamed and Mohamed Salah el-Din Awad.

The winners will be announced during the Cairo International Film Festival. The top three winners will receive cash prizes; the first-place winner will be granted LE 25,000, the second-place winner will be awarded LE 15,000 and the third-place winner will get a purchase voucher worth LE 10,000 from Virgin Store libraries. Twenty of the best stories will be selected from the submitted works to be published in a short story collection by Dar al-Shorouk.
