CAIRO - 22 September 2019: Africa will be the guest of honor of the 12th edition of the International Samaa’ Festival for Spiritual Music and Chanting.

Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem stated that hosting the African continent as the guest of honor of the 12th edition of the International Samaa’ Festival for Spiritual Music and chanting, comes as a rooting of the historical relations that link Egypt to Africa and the Egyptian depth in Africa.

Abdel Dayem added -during the opening of the festival on Sept. 21-that the opening coincides with the celebration of the International Day of Peace, which is a message to spread love, peace and brotherhood among cultures, on the land of Egypt, the focal point of religions.

For his part, the founder of the festival, Intisar Abdel Fattah, said that the festival affirms every year a message of peace and love, thanking the sectors of the Ministry of Culture for organizing this important cultural event in cooperation with the Ministries of Antiquities and Tourism.

This year, 24 countries will participate in the festival; including Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Jordan, Algeria, Sudan, Morocco, Pakistan, Romania, France, Greece, Spain, Libya, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bangladesh, Congo Brazzaville, Tunisia, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Congo Kinshasa, Malaysia, Mali, Tanzania and Brunei, in addition to a distinguished participation from the Syrian chanting groups residing in Egypt.
