CAIRO - 17 June 2019: Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem agreed on the terms of the seventh session of the Lawoon Competition, which is organized by the General Authority for Culture Palaces headed by Ahmed Awad.

The competition is made especially for Egyptian and African children in general and for those with special needs. The Lawoon competition will be held from June to August 1 in the fields of painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, and artistic formations, among others.

Abdel Dayem further stated that the current year's session is exceptional, as it bears both an Egyptian and African character, in line with the celebrations of Egypt's presidency of the African Union, and the announcement of Luxor as the official African Youth city.

Abdel Dayem further clarified that the competition mainly seeks to extend bridges of communication between the new generations in the countries of the continent through an artistic dialogue aimed at acquaintance and convergence, stressing the importance of the role of creativity in the unity of the sons of the same land.

The minister pointed out that the details of the competition were announced in Arabic, English and French in all palaces and houses of culture located throughout the various provinces in Egypt, in cooperation with the Foreign Cultural Relations Sector headed by Heba Yousef.

The Egyptian and African participants must be between the ages of 4-16, with a maximum of three competing works.
