CAIRO – 13 August 2018: In celebration of the 62nd anniversary of diplomatic ties between Egypt and China, and in a trial to reinforce the cultural relationship between the two nations, stars of the Egyptian Opera House returned home after their participation at the Arab Art Festival hosted in Chengdu, China. The festival was organized by the Ministry of Culture of both countries.

The show, labeled “Sout El-Nile” (Sound of the Nile), was held on the Claude Tiffin Theatre in the Centre of Eurasian Creativity, as part of the participations of the 4th edition of the annual Arab Arts Festival.

The participating stars, representing the Egyptian Opera House along with a number opera stars in China, worked together in great harmony, resulting in several performances that gained the appreciation from observers.

The participating Egyptian stars were:

• Iman Mostafa
• Reda al-Wakil
• Mona Rafla
• Hisham el-Gendy
• Amro Medhat

The participating Chinese opera stars were Yao Hong,Yin Hai, Geoge Jin and others. Chinese pianist Wang Yogo made sure he participated in the festival, offering great musical compositions that added bliss to the event.


Some of the operatic compositions performed on stage were:

• “Halak Ashbelya” (Seville Barber)
• “Roslaka”
• Toska
• “Don Giovanni”
• “Aida”

Furthermore, International Soprano Iman Mostafa, leader of the Egyptian Opera House team of stars, commented that the invitation received from the Chinese Cultural Centre in Giza to organize the event in China is considered a portrayal of the depth of cultural ties between the two nations.

Mostafa added that the Egyptian Sopranos recently achieved great success through their special performances on both regional and international levels. Mostafa considers Egyptian sopranos as great ambassadors of Egypt abroad, proudly explaining how they were able to intrigue observers worldwide with their exceptional performances, especially of complex international musical compositions.

Moreover, Mostafa added that Egypt is the leading country in the MENA region to ever perform operatic music. The artist further explained that the near future will witness a lot of cooperation between Egypt’s Opera House and other countries through different embassies and international entities, which will help bring nations together through Opera music.

The leader of the Egyptian Opera House team of stars further commented that the team’s new season is going to hold a lot of special surprises for fans and observers. It is worth noting that Egypt’s Cultural Consultant in China, Hussein Ibrahim, along with representatives of different media platforms, officials from the Egyptian Embassy in China, as well as ambassadors representing different Arab and Western Nations were present in the show.
