Alexandria to compete with Prague and Oslo to host an international conference

PARIS- 7 June 2018: Alexandria was chosen Thursday to host the 26th General Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) due to be held in 2022.

Alexandria came first in the elections that were held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, followed by Prague of the Czech Republic and Oslo of Norway.

Before the elections, a delegation of the Egyptian committee for museums, led by Dr. Khaled Azab, reviewed the Alexandria's capabilities which make the coastal city the best place to host this international event.

The delegation also included Alexandria Governor Mohamed Sultan and Egyptian Ambassador to France and its permanent delegate to the UNESCO Ihab Badawi.

The International Council of Museums (ICOM) was formed in 1946 in order to promote and protect natural and cultural heritage, present and future, tangible and intangible.
