CAIRO – 2 May 2017: The 70th Cannes International Film Festival will start on May 17 and continues until the 28th of the same month. This will mark the 20th anniversary of the festival.

In this occasion and for the first time the Palme d’Or design will change. The new design will be made by the famous jewellery house Chopard. Chopard is expected to present a stunning and luxurious design.

The new Palme d’Or will be executed with 118 grams of gold and is encrusted with 167 pieces of diamonds. Each Palme d’Or award is expected to take 40 hours of work and cost up to €20,000.

The Cannes International Film Festival is one of the most important film festivals in the world, which promotes the development of the film industry. The most important filmmakers gather every year in Cannes to participate in the festival. The poster of the Cannes Film Festival 2017 will hold the photo of the Italian star Claudia Cardinally.
