CAIRO – 24 January 2018: Young, talented comic illustrator Manu Ripoll is in Egypt to start a very beneficial workshop that aims to transfer his experiences and skills on the art of comics, along with a great exhibition for his latest works, which will take place in the Cervantes Institution in Egypt December 18 and 19.

The Spanish comic illustrator came to Egypt to teach only 10 participants about the art of narrative comic illustrating, which is the art of storytelling through drawings, and he also came to explain the real meaning of the comic coloring theory and how it affects a comic book, in addition to some valuable information about street sketching.

Manu Ripoll was born in Barcelona and studied art in Spain and Poland. He has a master’s in graphic art and illustration. He is well known for his comic book,“The Outskirts”, which won the first prize for Best Reportage in the Fnac’s urban sketching competition.

Ripoll was brought to Egypt through three entities. First is the non-profit foundation Al-Fanar, which is based in Madrid and aims to empower cultural relationships between Arab countries and Spain. The second is Kawkab El-Rassameen (The Planet of Illustrators), which supports and encourages youth in the illustration field. The third is Koshk Comics, and they are famous Egyptian online publishers that provide coverage for young illustrators’ projects.
