CAIRO – 28 November 2017: The Egyptian scriptwriter Waleed Youssef announced that he has finished writing “Al Zebaq” (The Mercury) season two.
The famous Egyptian actor Karim Abdel Aziz previously stated that he will start shooting season two of the series “Al Zebaq” in December.

“Al Zebaq” season one was screened last Ramadan. “The drama aims to increase Egyptian youth awareness as well as elevate their patriotic feeling,” announced actor Sherif Mounir during his interview on “El-Gawla el-Fania” (The Artistic Tour) on July 16 broadcast on ON TV. Mounir co-stars with Abdel Aziz in the series.

“Al-Zebaq” season two will focus on the intelligence side more than the social side. The social side was more prevalent in season one. “The script writer, while writing season one’s script, discovered that the series cannot be executed in one part, so he decided to focus more on the social side in season one, while stressing more on the intelligence side in season two,’’ Mounir explained.

“Al-Zebaq” takes place between 1998 and 2003. The drama portrays a true story taken from the files of the Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate.

It revolves around a young Egyptian man named Omar, portrayed by Abdel Aziz, who is working as a surveillance camera technician.

The Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate decided to utilize Omar with the help of its officer Khaled, performed by Mounir, planting him in Europe to discover Israeli Mossad intelligence elements there and in Egypt.
