CAIRO – 24 September 2017: El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) announces the recap of segments held on the second day of the festival on Sunday, according to a released statement by GFF.

Several screenings were carried out at multiple halls including Marina Theater, Audimax, and Sea Cinema, where the film crews were available for interviews. The films screened included No Bed of Roses by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki (Bangaladesh, India) that revolves around a filmmaker who undergoes a midlife crisis whose family gets torn apart after his love affair with another woman. The couple’s affair however is challenged by the nature of Bangladeshi society.

Containing both English and Bengali language, the film will be screened again on September 29. Another film that has been screened is a Gentle Creature by Sergei Loznitsa (Russia) that revolved around a woman living alone in Russia and gets shocked that an envelope she sent to her husband in prison is returned to her which prompted her to travel to the prison in search for an explanation.

The French film the Wild Frontier by Nicolas Klotz also screened on Saturday. It revolves around one winter in 2016 at the Calais Jungle, a refugee tent city of 12,000 people. The city’s southern zone has been completely destroyed and their inhabitants have been kicked out of their homes and were forced to find a new shelter. The film’s language is Afghan, Amharic, English, French, and Turkish and depicts turmoil of wars, police violence, and more.

The third film screened is the Estonian film Scary Mother by Ana Urushadze that focuses on a 55-year old housewife that struggles with a dilemma and is obliged to choose between her family life and a love for writing she buried for years. The Georgian language film will be screened again on September 28.

The festival has also featured several lectures on film production carried out by filmmakers Andrea Lervolino who was awarded Best Production at the 71st Venice Film Festival and was labeled filmmaker of the year for his roles as producer in Dubious Battle at Capri Hollywood Film Festival in 2016.

The last segment of the second day of the GFF was the Cinegouna panel discussions which focus on methods to finance film and securing funds. Speakers in the panel come from three established film funds in the international film industry who also spoke about the economy of filmmaking.
