CAIRO – 13 August 2017: Crime/drama film “Tower” (2016) will be screening at Cairo’s Balcon Heliopolis on August 14.

The film is directed by Keith Maitland. It takes place in 1966 and revolves around a sniper on the top floor of the University of Texas Tower. He opened fire, seizing the campus as hostage for 96 minutes.

The film depicts the death of 16 people that were fired upon, the dozens injured, and the spread of an anxious atmosphere throughout the nation. The film also explores and tries to understand the reasons behind the brutal crime.

“Tower” further portrays a combination of archived footage and dynamic animation to explain the unknown stories told by witnesses, heroes and the survivors.

The film stars Violett Beane, Louie Arnette and Blair Jackson. It has won four awards in the Austin Film Critics Association in 2016, the Boston Society of Film Critics Association Awards and the Cinema Eye Honors Awards, alongside several nominations.
