CAIRO – 31 July 2017: For the first time, Al-Nour Wal Amal Chamber Orchestra, composed entirely of blind/visually-impaired women, will be performing in China, including a concert in Hong Kong and three other cities, touring from August 2- 6, 2017.

Al Nour Wal Amal began in 1954 as an NGO dedicated to helping Egypt's blind girls better adjust to society and gain ample opportunities, living up to its name, which translates into ‘Light and Hope.’ The chamber orchestra came after Al-Nour Wal Amal's Music Institute was established in 1961, and have held their first ever outside performance in 1972 at the Cairo Opera House. The concert is now on its fourth generation, and has trained women of all ages, from schoolgirls to college graduates.

Al-Nour Wal Amal's Chamber Orchestra has toured over 25 times in countries such as Canada, Australia and in parts of Europe, Africa, Asia and the Arab World. They've received much international acclaim, and have absolutely earned their title as ‘the Fourth Pyramid of Giza.’
