Egyptian star Nelly Karim stirred up controversy on social media after Thursday’s episode of her series Ekhwaty, where she weighed in on the much-debated “Voice of Egypt” title.

In the episode, Nelly’s character asks her boss, played by Nabil Issa, for headphones, explaining that she can’t work without listening to “The Voice of Egypt”—Sherine Abdel-Wahab.

Shortly after, Nelly took to X, sharing a scene from the episode with the caption: “I just can’t work without the Voice of Egypt, Sherine Abdel-Wahab.”

Her post ignited mixed reactions among fans. While some agreed with her statement, others, especially supporters of rival singers like Angham and Amal Maher, pushed back—reigniting the ongoing debate over who truly deserves the title.

The series Ekhwaty (My Sisters), starring Nelly Karim, Ruby, Kinda Alloush, and Gehan El-Shamashergy, is set competing in Ramadan 2025 drama season.
