It’s that time of year again where we’ll be glued to our TVs, or more likely our phones and iPads trying to cram in as many episodes of series produced for the peak viewing drama season that is Ramadan. On this occasion Egypt Today magazine will provide you with a guide to the most prominent series that will be released this Ramadan.
1- "Souk El Kanto” ( El Kanto Market)
Egyptian superstars Amir Karara, Mai Ezzeldin and Fathy Abdelwahab along with acclaimed scriptwriter Hani Sarhan and famed director Hussein El Menbawi will present the long awaited series “Souk El Kanto”.
The series will witness the first cooperation between Karara and Ezzeldin and the third cooperation between Sarhan and El Menbawi.
The series revolves around Taha (Amir Karara) who lives in El Kanto market and is exposed to difficult situations that change his life and make him enter into a fierce conflict with the market’s merchants. At the same time the series will tackle the love relationship between Taha and a foreign girl who works in sewing clothes (Mai Ezzeldin).
2- "Sero El Bate'e"
The events of the series revolve around a young man who is searching to know the secret of the shrine of Sultan Hamed located in one of the Egyptian villages.
His researches lead him to the time of the French campaign against Egypt, and discovers that the owner of the shrine played an important role in combatting the French occupation, as he killed one of the French military leaders and therefore the French forces at that time wanted to arrest him, especially since he has a distinctive mark, which is a bird tattoo on his face and only four fingers in his hand. However, the soldiers fall into trouble when all the young men in the village cut off a finger from their fingers and draw the same tattoo on their faces to mislead the soldiers and preserve Hamed's life. "Sero El Bate'e" witnessed the comeback of famed Egyptian director Khaled Youssef and is taken from a novel by great writer Youssef Edris that bears the same name. The series houses a star-studded cast including Ahmed El Sadaany, Ahmed Fahmy, Hanan Motawie, Reem Moustafa, Hussein Fahmy, Mahmoud Kabil,Naglaa Badr, Salah Abdallah, Khaled El Sawy, Ahmed Wafik, Ahmed Abdelaziz, among others. 3-" El Kebeer Awi" part 7
Are you ready for more and more from the funny adventures of El Kbeer ( Ahmed Mekky), Marbouha ( Rahma Ahmed), Hagrass ( Mohamed Sallam), Dr.Rabie ( Bayoumi Fouad), Faza'a ( Hisham Ismail), Nafady ( Hatem Salah)? Then get ready for a condensed dosage of funny situations and scenes because Part 7 from the highly popular series “El Kebeer Awi” will be released in Ramadan 2023. Part 7 from "El Kebeer Awi" is written by Mostafa Sakr and Mohamed Ezzeldin, directed by Ahmed El Gendy and produced by Synergy.
4- "Darb Nar" ( Fire Shooting)
The popular duo Yasmine Abdelaziz and Ahmed Elawady is back again with "Darb Nasr" series after the smash success of their series "Elly Malosh Kebeer". The series revolves around Gaber El Komanda ( Ahmed Elawady) who is living in Upper Egypt and owns a tire shop and suddenly his life turns upside down and he is forced to leave his village because of vendetta and moves to Shubra to meet Mohra ( Yasmine Abdelaziz). Gaber will rent the shop owned by Mohra family and will fall in love with her. Beside Abdelaziz and Elawady the series houses a notable cast including Maged El Masry, Sohair El Morshdy, Tamer Magdy, Taiseer Abdelaziz, Ahmed Ghozzi among others. 5- "Resalet El Imam"
"Resalet El Imam" (The Imam's Message) revolves around the biography of Imam Al-Shafi'i, who is one of the most prominent imams who drew the features of Islamic jurisprudence. Egyptian star Khaled El Nabawy is embodying the role of Imam Al-Shafi'i, along with star-studded cast including Arwa Gouda, Khaled Anwar, Nedal El Shafie, Hamza El Eily, Gihan Khalil, Ahmed El Rafi'e among others. 6- "Jaffar El Omda"
The series revolves around Jaafar El Omda who is married to 4 women, owns contracting company, and enters into many conflicts, whether at work or in his personal life. "Jaffar El Omda" will witness the third cooperation between superstar Mohamed Ramadan and famed director Mohamed Sami after their two successful series "El Ostoura" and " El Prince". The comedy series stars the popular comedian Ahmed Amin, Taha El Dessouky, Hatem Salah, Aya Samaha, Mohamed Radwan, Inaam Salousa, among others. 8- "Mozakarat Zoug" ( Memoirs Of A Husband)
The series revolves around the relationship between a husband and his wife and the disputes that usually occur after marriage the matter that pushes the husband to seek the help of a psychiatrist after killing his wife in his dreams. "Mozkarat Zoug" houses a star-studded cast including Tarek Lotfy, Aicha Ben Ahmed, Khaled Elsawy, Sama Ibrahim, Rana Raies, among others. The series is taken from a novel by Ahmed Bahgat, the script is written by Mohamed Soliman Abdelmalak, directed by Tamer Nady and produced by Aroma.
9- "Eilaka Mashro'a" ( Legitimate Relationship)
The series discusses a number of social issues, including marital violence, and the idea of a second marriage, through the relationship of Amr ( Yasser Galal), his wife Alia (Dalia Mustafa), and their children, in addition to the story of his friend, who suffers from a tense relationship with his wife, and how Amr gets involved in that. 10- "Gat Salima"
The comedy series revolves around a young lady named Salima who faces many situations while travelling through different times with her younger brother, then she will lose him during this journey, and she will try to search for him in a comic framework. "Gat Salima" stars Donia Samir Ghanem, Mohamed Sallam, Samy Maghwary, Shereen, Mohamed Tharwat among others. The series is written by Karim Youssef and Sameh Gamal, directed by Eslam Khairy and produced by Ahmed Elsobky.
11- "El Kateeba 101" ( Battalion 101)
"Kateeba 101” revolves around the role of the Battalion 101 in confronting the takfiri and terrorist organizations in North Sinai.
The story of the series begins in 2014.
“El Kateeba 101” stars a notable group of stars including Amr Youssef, Asser Yassin, Wafaa Amer, Fathy Abdelwahab, Ahmed Salah Hosny, Walid Fawaz among others.

12- "1000 Hamdela Ala El Salama" ( Welcome Back)
Egyptian superstar Yousra will compete in Ramadan drama marathon with her socio-comedy series "1000 Hamdela Ala El Salama".
The series revolves around doctor Samiha Jahin Al-Suwaisi who immigrated to Canada with her family, and returns to Cairo to search for her mother-in-law and aunt as her late husband, Dr. Gamal asked her to search for his mother. Doctor Samiha returns to Egypt with her son and daughter to be surprised by the radical changes that occurred in the Egyptian society. The series house a notable cast beside Yousra including Mohamed Tharwat, Shaimaa Seif, Mayan El Sayed, Adam El Sharkawy in addition to Mahraganat singer Einba. "1000 Hamdela Ala El Salama" is written by Mohamed Zulfcar, directed by Amr Salah and produced by Al Adl Group.
13- "Taht El Wesaya" ( Under GCustody)
The series revovles around a widowed mother of two named Hanan who supports her family through working on a fishing boat. Being a lonely woman with two children will make her faces several problems in her work environment, so she works to solve these problems. The series stars Egyptian megastar Mona Zaki, Diab, Ahmed Khaled Saleh, Aly El Tayeb among others. "Tahet El Wesaya" is written by Khaled Diab and Sherine Diab, directed by Mohamed Shaker Khodier and produced by Media Hub.
14- Omla Nadra " A Rare Coin"
The series revolves around a woman from Upper Egypt named Nadra who suffer from the discrimination, the same as all women in Upper Egypt, as they are forbidden from inheriting land and obliged to take money in exchange for it. Despite that no one is allowed to violate this custom, the brave Nadra will violate it. The series stars megastar Nelly Karim, Gamal Soliman, Ahmed Eid, Joumana Mourad, Kamal Aboria, among others. "Omla Nadra" is written by Medhat El Adl, directed by Mando El Adl and produced by Al Adl Group.
15- "Harb" ( War)
The 10 episodes series " Harb" will be screened in the last ten days of Ramadan.
"Harb" is an action-suspense series that stars superstar Ahmed El Sakka, Mohamed Farag, Ingy El Mokaddem among others. The series is written by Hani Sarhan, directed by Ahmed Nader Galal and produced by Synergy.
16- "Hadret El Omda" ( The Mayor)
In the context of excitement and suspense, the series revolves around a young woman who was graduated from the American University, and she is being nominated to be the mayor of her village, and she takes the position officially, but she faces many conflicts within the village. The series stars Ruby, Wafaa Amer, Ahmed Rezk, Samiha Ayoub, Nahla Salama among others. "Hadret El Omda" is written by Ibrahim Eissa, directed by Abdel Adeeb and produced by Mohamed Mahmoud Abdelaziz and Remon Makar.
