CAIRO – 30 October 2022: This palm-shaped column was actually used as a container for reed pens used in writing.

It is one of many items found in Tutankhamun’s tomb related to writing and painting. 

 

 

 

The object is made of gilded wood inlayed with carnelian, obsidian, and colored glass.

 

 

 

 

The middle section contains the various titles of king Tutankhamun. Tutankhamun’s throne title, Neb-Kheperu-Re, is visible in the illustration found inside a cartouche
