CAIRO – 18 October 2022: The Bibliotheca Alexandrina has published issue no.49 of the Memory of Egypt magazine, on the occasion of the centenary of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb and the 200th anniversary of the deciphering of the Rosetta Stone.

Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Ahmed Zayed noted in the introduction of the new issue that the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb 100 years ago was an important event that affected the global cultural and archaeological circles .

 

 

 

 

Zayed also stated that the deciphering of the Rosetta Stone allowed us to explore the depths of the ancient Egyptian civilization.

 

 

 

 

The new issue included a special section for articles written by senior specialists in the history of ancient Egypt, and pictures from the time of the tomb's discovery on November 4, 1922. These pictures are published for the first time.

 

 

 

 

In addition, the issue included two articles on the 200th anniversary of the deciphering of the Rosetta Stone. It is noteworthy that the Memory of Egypt magazine is published every three months.
