Egypt retrieves 2 smuggled artifacts from Belgium

CAIRO - 2 October 2021: The Ambassador of Egypt to Belgium, European Council and the European Commission Khaled El Bakly received two artifacts that were smuggled out of Egypt illegally.

 

Shaaban Abdel Gawad, General Supervisor of the department of recovered antiquites explained that the first retrieved statue is dating back to the era of the Old Kingdom and it is made of a colorful limestone depicting a standing man resting on a base.

 

The other retrieved artifact is  Ushabti statue made of faience and dating back to  the late period.
