Egypt’s Khaled El-Enany talks about important archaeological discoveries at the General Assembly meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce

CAIRO - 31 May 2021: Dr. Khaled El-Enany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, participated as a keynote speaker at the General Assembly meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce, which was held at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat under the title "A Night at the Museum .. Reviving an Ancient Civilization”.
 
The meeting was attended by Engineer Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Dr. Mohammed Maait, Minister of Finance, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, Mr. Hisham Tawfik, Minister of Public Business Sector, Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and Mrs. Ghada Shalaby, Vice Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs. Dr. Mustafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization also attended.
 
Dr. Sherif Kamel, Chairman of the Chamber, whose term of office has expired, Professor Tarek Tawfik, the new Chairman of the Chamber, and members of the Chamber, in addition to a number of ambassadors in Cairo, attended as well.
 
This meeting was broadcast live by video conference with the Washington Chamber of Commerce and the Chambers of Commerce in the Middle East and North Africa.
 
During his speech, Dr. Khaled El-Enany talked about the most important archaeological discoveries in 2020 and highlighted the archaeological discoveries of Saqqara. He said that more archaeological discoveries will be announced next September.
 
The Minister also talked about the recently opened museums, highlighting that HE the President opened three new museums in one day in three different governorates: the museums of Sharm el-Sheikh, Kafr El-Sheikh, and the Royal Carriages Museum in Cairo, as well as HE the President opening the Baron Empain Palace in Heliopolis, and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat.
 
He added that the Prime Minister opened the first archaeological museum in Hurghada and the pyramid of Djoser, in Saqqara.
 
 He talked about the opening of the Royal Al-Fath Mosque in the Abdeen and Eliyahu Hanavi Synagogue in Alexandria, in one day. He also highlighted the opening of the Replica Factory in Obour City, which is the first of its kind in Egypt and the Middle East.
 
The minister emphasized the importance of revamping services in museums and archaeological sites, talking about the opening of the first restaurant in the Giza Plateau, and that another restaurant will be opened in Baron Palace soon.
 
Dr. Khaled El-Enany talked about the Golden Pharaohs’ Parade that the world witnessed on 3 April.
 
The Minister also mentioned the opening of two Museums at Cairo International Airport.
 
Dr. Khaled El-Enany also talked about the ongoing projects such as the restoration project of the Sphinx Avenue in Luxor, 
 Mohammed Ali Palace in Shubra, and of course the Grand Egyptian Museum.
 
Dr. Khaled El-Enany highlighted the efforts of the government to support the tourism sector and its workers in Egypt during the Coronavirus pandemic. In addition to the efforts done to resume inbound tourism safely and the hygiene safety measures implemented in hotels, museums, archeological sites, and tourist establishments, referring to the World Travel and Tourism Council giving Egypt its Safe Travels Stamp.
 
The Minister said that within days, the completing the vaccination of all workers in the tourism sector in the governorates of South Sinai and the Red Sea with anti-Coronavirus vaccines.
 
Members of the chamber visited the central exhibition hall and the royal mummies hall of the museum during the event.
