CAIRO – 25 April 2021: Egypt’s First Lady Entissar el-Sisi congratulated Egyptians on Sinai Liberation Day, saying Sinai will remain a sacred land for Egyptians.

“The battle for the Liberation of [Sinai] will continue to bear witness to the glories of its sons, who set an example for generations who came after them,” she said in a Sunday statement.

“On the anniversary of the liberation of Sinai, I pay tribute to the armed forces and the mind of the Egyptian people that was able to fulfill its national mission, dispel illusions and impose victory,” she added.

Sinai was under Israeli occupation for six years, until the Egyptians liberated it in 1973, except for Taba, which was recovered in 1988 after an international tribunal.
