CAIRO - 19 April 2021: “El Tawous” ( The Peacok) series faces threats of suspension because of its inconsistent language.

Egyptian Council For Media Regulations announced the opening of an urgent investigation with the series makers as well as the TV channels that screens the series.

The council said that the series language is inconsistent with the rules and regulations set by the council pertaining to drama work.

” El Tawous” discusses sexual harassment issue, presenting a story almost similar to the gang rape case known as “Fairmont Case.”

Some social media users critized the series saying it is inappropriate to discuss such case in Ramadan and it is not correct to portray a real case that the court didn’t issue its final decree and it is not yet confirmed whether this gang will be proven guilty  or no.

A hashtag was launched on Twitter saying #El Tawous series against principals.
