Egypt's exports to Sudan in 2019 hit $140.4M - official

CAIRO - 8 December 2020: Egypt's exports of plastic products, fertilizers, and paper to Sudan reached $140.4 million in 2019, Executive Director at Chemical and Fertilizers Export Council Waleed Azab said on Tuesday. 

 

Speaking during a symposium organized by the council, Azab noted that plastic products are one of the most important exports to Sudan as they achieved an increase estimated at 6.1 percent reaching $81.4 million compared to $76.7 million in 2018. 
 

 

Fertilizers came the third most important export to the Sudanese market with a value of $41.8 million in 2019 with a great increase of 568.8 percent compared to 2018, Azab underlined. 
 

Azab pointed out that the trade exchange between Cairo and Khartoum grew 10.4 percent to record $674.5 million in 2019 compared to 610.9 million in 2018. 
 

 

The trade balance achieved a surplus in favor of Egypt hitting $260.7 million as the exports registered $467.6 million compared to Sudanese exports to Egypt worth $206.7 million. 
 

 

The Egyptian exports to Sudan represent 1.5 percent of the total Egyptian exports to the world in 2019, while the Sudanese exports to Egypt represent 5.1 percent of the total exports.
