Egyptian-Spanish IT Innovation Program Avails Fund for Collaborative R&D Projects

Egyptian-Spanish IT Innovation Program Avails Fund for Collaborative R&D Projects

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has announced opening registration for the Egyptian-Spanish IT Innovation Program (ESITIP), targeting funding research cooperation projects between Egyptian and Spanish companies in ICT. The program is implemented in collaboration with the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) in Spain.

Registration is open until March 25, 2021. Joint proposals are submitted to CDTI, and the list of accepted projects will be announced on ITIDA and CDTI websites.

ESITIP aims to support and fund research and development projects in technology areas, and encourage establishing partnerships between Egyptian and Spanish research and industrial bodies.

Supporting joint research projects in IT, in cooperation with academic and industrial bodies, contributes to boosting the competitiveness of local products and increasing the industry's ability to develop knowledge- and technology-based products. This comes as ITIDA attaches great importance to the technological innovation pillar, and promotes innovative entrepreneurship in Egypt, that is currently flourishing and achieving positive results, at the local, regional and global fronts.

The program requires the participation of an Egyptian academic partner and an IT company registered in ITIDA database, with a Spanish partner from the industry sector. The program provides a platform to help parties establish partnerships and cooperate, after receiving both ITIDA AND CDTI approval.

ESITIP aims to strengthen partnerships and cooperation in a number of strategic areas, including research in information security, wireless networks, and ICT applications in transportation, health, agriculture, education, energy, and serving Persons with Disabilities (PwDs),

The second phase includes the latest technology areas and global market trends, such as mobile applications, cloud computing, data analysis, big data, Internet of Things (IoT), game-based education, cognitive computing, smart devices, blockchain, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR).

It is worth noting that in 2016, ITIDA and CDTI inked a cooperation agreement to launch ESITIP.
