EGX ends Sunday in red, market cap. loses LE4.3B

CAIRO – 1 November 2020: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Sunday’s session in red, losing LE 4.3 billion of market capitalization, amid foreign and Arab selling.

 

The benchmark EGX30 declined 0.56 percent, or 58.92 points, to close at 10,456.33 points.

 

The equally weighted index EGX 50 dipped 0.93 percent, or 18.54 points, to end at 1,971.53 points.

 

Moreover, the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 dropped 0.88 percent, or 16.5 points, to close at 1,854.2 points, and the broader index EGX 100 inched down 0.91 percent, or 24.91 points to 2,718.56 points.

 

Market capitalization lost around LE 4.3 billion, recording LE 601.08 billion, compared to LE 605.38 billion in Wednesday’s session.

 

The trading volume reached 304.23 million shares, traded through 32,097 transactions, with a turnover of LE 911.02 million. 

 

Egyptian investors were net buyers at LE 34.53 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 2.5 million, and LE 32 million, respectively. 

 

Arab, and foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 1.46 million, and LE 5.99 million, respectively, while Egyptians individuals were net buyers at LE 21.27 million.

 

Arab and foreign organizations sold at LE 1.07 million, and LE 26.01 million, respectively, while Egyptian organizations bought at LE 13.27 million.

 

Misr Oils & Soap, Modern Shorouk Printing & Packaging, and General Company for Land Reclamation, Development & Reconstruction  were top gainers of the session at 9.93 percent, 9.61 percent and 9.30 percent, respectively. 

 

Meanwhile, Housing & Development Bank, El Kahera Housing, and Prime Holding were top losers of the session by 8.15 percent, 5.89 percent, and 5.61 percent, respectively.

 

EGX ended Wednesday’s session on mixed note, as: EGX30 declined  0.42 percent, EGX 50 decreased 0.20 percent, while EGX 70 hiked 0.31 percent, and EGX 100 climbed 0.04 percent.

 

Wednesday’s session was the last trading session of the last week as the bourse was off on Thursday, Oct. 29, in celebration of Prophet Mohamed's birthday.
