CAIRO - 27 July 2020: Gold prices went up by LE 19 during early transactions on Monday, registering LE 865 for one gram of 21-carat gold, LE 741.40 for each gram of 18-carat gold and LE 988.55 for each gram of 24-carat gold.

Today's increase in gold prices was driven by the rise in global markets due to tensions between Washington and Beijing, the backing of the dollar and the increase of the coronavirus, Ehab Wassef, deputy head of the gold division of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce said.

The value of the gold Egyptian pound hit LE 6,920, he added.
