EGX continues trading in red zone, market cap. loses LE6B

CAIRO – 19 July 2020: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) continued its downtrend during Sunday, losing LE 6.05 billion of market capitalization, amid foreign selling.

 

The benchmark EGX30 dropped 1.53 percent, or 160.04 points, to close at 10,281.16 points. 

 

The equally weighted index EGX 50 decreased 0.93 percent, or 16.3 points, to end at 1,727.42 points. 

  

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 declined 1.17 percent, or 16.65 points, to close at 1,409.29 points, and the broader index EGX 100 dipped 1.15 percent, or 25.38 points to 2,177.44 points. 

 

Market capitalization lost LE 6.05 billion, recording LE 568.88 billion, compared to LE 574.93 billion in Thursday’s session.

 

The trading volume reached 733.28 million shares, traded through 31,379 transactions, with a turnover of LE 315.79 million. 

 

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 9.77 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 1.39 million, and LE 8.37 million, respectively. 

 

Egyptian and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 41.5 million, and LE 11.08 million, respectively, while Arab individuals were net sellers at LE 1.4 million.

 

Arab organizations bought at LE 9.77 million, while  Egyptian and foreign organizations sold at LE 40.14 million, and LE 20.85 million, respectively. 

 

Arab Cotton Ginning, El Ahram Co. for Printing and Packing, and Rowad Tourism (Al Rowad) were top gainers of the session at 7.60 percent, 7.47 percent and 6.22 percent, respectively. 

 

Meanwhile, El Arabia Engineering Industries, Delta Construction & Rebuilding, and Emerald Real Estate Investment were top losers of the session by 8.97 percent 8.88 percent, and 8.61 percent, respectively. 

 

EGX ended Thursday in red as: EGX30 dropped 1.66 percent, EGX 50 decreased 1.78 percent, EGX 70 dipped 2.45 percent, and EGX 100 lessened 2.27 percent.
