EGX ends mid-week session in red, market cap. loses LE 8.6B

CAIRO – 14 July 2020: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Tuesday in red, losing LE 8.57 billion of market capitalization, amid foreign selling.

 

The benchmark EGX30 dropped 1.22 percent, or 134.32 points, to close at 10,873.53 points. 

 

The equally weighted index EGX 50 decreased 1.67 percent, or 31.3 points, to end at 1,838.5 points. 

  

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 declined 1.89 percent, or 29.21 points, to close at 1,520.35points, and the broader index EGX 100 dipped 1.84 percent, or 43.82 points to 2,341.31 points. 

 

 

Market capitalization lost LE 8.57 billion, recording LE 595.93 billion, compared to LE 604.51 billion in Monday’s session. 

 

The trading volume reached 328.57 million shares, traded through 34,493 transactions, with a turnover of LE 875.11 million. 

 

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 31.26 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 2.37 million, and LE 28.88 million, respectively. 

 

Egyptian individuals were net sellers at LE 32.52 million while Arab and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 13.86 million, and LE 233,728, respectively.

 

Foreign organizations sold at LE 31.49 million, while Egyptian and Arab organizations bought at LE 34.9 million, and LE 31.49 million, respectively. 

 

Rubex International for Plastic and Acrylic Manufacturing, El Nasr for Manufacturing Agricultural Crops, and Saudi Egyptian Investment & Finance were top gainers of the session at 9.65 percent, 9.23 percent and 8.93 percent, respectively. 

 

Meanwhile, Sharm Dreams Co. for Tourism Investment, El Obour Real Estate Investment, and Prime Holding were top losers of the session by 7.48 percent 7.09 percent, and 6.61 percent, respectively. 

 

EGX ended Monday, on mixed note as: EGX30 dropped 0.58 percent, while EGX 50 increased 1.07percent, and EGX 70 climbed 0.87 percent, and EGX 100 jumped 0.68 percent.
