EBRD lauds electricity sector's accomplishments in Egypt

CAIRO - 27 February 2020: A European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) delegation lauded on Thursday the accomplishments the electricity sector achieved in Egypt in a short time.

The delegation, during a meeting with Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker, hoped to increase the volume of investments in Egypt and contribute to renewable energy projects.

It thanked the ministry for regularly paying necessary dues to investors.

Shaker expounded the ministry's strategy to expand in renewable energy projects and to encourage the private sector to invest in this domain.

He reiterated keenness on boosting cooperation with the bank to raise energy efficiency, develop power control centers and upgrade transformer stations.

He also expressed hope of exchanging expertise with the WB in seawater desalination stations. (
