EGX deepens its losses during Monday

CAIRO – 24 February 2020: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Monday's session in red, losing around LE 13 billion of market capitalization, amid Egyptian and foreign selling.

The benchmark EGX 30 dropped 1.80 percent, or 246.19 points, to close at 13,441.86 points.

The equally weighted index EGX 50 declined 3.10 percent, or 57.99 points, to end at 1,810.17 points.
Moreover, the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 lessened 3.16 percent, or 39.68 points, to close at 1,216.48 points, and the broader index EGX 100 decreased 2.41 percent, or 105.74 points to 1,329.07 points.


Market capitalization lost LE 12.97 billion, recording LE 681.15 billion, compared to LE 694.13 billion in Sunday's session.

The trading volume reached 251.91 million shares, traded through 23,889 transactions, with a turnover of LE 889.15 million.

Arab investors were net buyers at LE 49.72 million, while Egyptian and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 35.03 million, and LE 14.68 million, respectively.

Foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 408,998, while Egyptian and Arab individuals were net buyers at LE 31.02 million, and LE 3.88 million, respectively.

Egyptian and foreign organizations bought at LE 66.05 million, and LE 14.27 million, respectively, while Arab organizations sold at LE 14.27 million.

October Pharma, Ismailia National Food Industries, and Ismailia Misr Poultry were top gainers of the session 9.85 percent, 7.86 percent and 7.61 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, National Housing for Professional Syndicates, Heliopolis Housing, and The Egyptian Company for Construction Development-Lift Slab were top losers of the session by 10 percent, 9.74 percent, and 9.30 percent, respectively.
EGX ended Sunday's session in a semi-collective regression, as: EGX 30 dropped 0.24 percent, EGX 50 declined 0.16 percent and the broader index EGX 100 increased 0.20 percent, while EGX 70 inched up 0.01 percent.
