EGX announces Jan. 1 as official holiday

CAIRO – 30 December 2018: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) announced that trading on the bourse will be off on Wednesday 1st of January 2020.

EGX attributed this decision to the banks' holiday, adding that trading will be resumed on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020.

On Sunday, CBE announced that banks operating in Egypt will be off on Wednesday, January 1.

CBE clarified that this holiday comes on the occasion of the end of the fiscal year for most of the banks on December 31. CBE added in a statement that work will resume on Thursday, January 2.
