CAIRO – 15 June 2017: The consultancy tender contract of Ataqa hydro pumping and storage plant was signed Thursday with French engineering and project management company Artelia.

The LE 250 million contract will be paid in Egyptian pounds, head of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) Gaber El-Desouky said in a statement published by the Ministry of Electricity on Thursday.

In cooperation with Chinese state-owned hydropower engineering Sinohydro, the EEHC will build 2,400MW hydro power plant in Ataqa area in Suez governorate, with a total cost of $ 2.7 billion.

The project contract was signed in March 2015 at Egypt Economic Development Conference (EEDC), which took place in Sharm El-Sheikh and witnessed the signing of worth of billion dollar agreements.
