EGX ends Wednesday in red, market cap. loses LE4.81B

CAIRO – 4 September 2019: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Wednesday’s session in red, losing about LE 4.81 billion of market capitalization, amid foreign purchases.

The benchmark EGX 30 declined 1.05 percent, or 158.2 point, to close at 14,841.38 points.

The equally weighted index EGX 50 dropped 0.31 percent, or 6.71 points, to end at 2,172.15 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 inched down 0.12 percent, or 0.64 points, to close at 552.66 points, and the broader index EGX 100 decreased 0.15 percent, or 2.21 point, to 1,466.87 points.

Market capitalization lost LE 4.81 million, recording LE 770.46 billion, compared to LE 775.27 billion in Tuesday’s session.

The trading volume reached 161.16 million shares, traded through 22,663 transactions, with a turnover of LE 782.81 million.

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 101.54 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 97.59 million, and LE 3.94 million, respectively.

Egyptian and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 38.8 million, and LE 201,584, respectively, while Arab individuals were net sellers at LE 6.73 million.

Egyptian and Arab organization bought at LE 58.79 million, and LE 10.67 million, respectively, while foreign organizations sold at LE 101.74 million.

Arabia Investments Holding, Ezz Steel, and Arab Aluminum were top gainers of the session by 8.67 percent, 7.36 percent and 6.40 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, South Cairo & Giza Mills & Bakeries, MM Group for Industry and Juhayna Food Industries were top losers of the session by 9.98 percent, 6.63 percent, and 4.14 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Thursday’s session in green for the second session in row, as EGX 30 hiked 1.64 percent, EGX 50 rose 0.51 percent, EGX 70 inched up 0.40 percent, and EGX 100 increased 0.53 percent.
