CAIRO – 4 July 2019: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended the three-session week in red, losing LE 6.6 billion of market capitalization, amid Arab selling.

Earlier, EGX and the Central Bank of Egypt announced Sunday, June 30, to be an official holiday in celebration of the anniversary of June 30 revolution, and Trading to be resumed on Tuesday, July 2.

The benchmark EGX 30 dropped 0.99 percent, or 136.82 point, to close at 13,997.4 points.

The equally weighted index EGX 50 decreased 1.16 percent, or 24.54 points, to close at 2,087.06 points.

Moreover, the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 inched down 0.87 percent, or 5.25 points, to close at 597.28 points, and the broader index EGX 100 dipped 0.97 percent, or 14.86 point, to 1,524.14 points.


Market capitalization lost LE 6.57 billion, recording LE 750.08 billion, compared to LE 756.65 billion in Wednesday's session.

The trading volume reached 209 million shares, traded through 18,655 transactions, with a turnover of LE 722.79 million.

Arab investors were net sellers at LE 43.21 million, while Egyptian and foreign investors were net buyers at LE 10.59 million, and LE 32.62 million, respectively.

Arab and foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 171,661, and LE 833,930, respectively, while Egyptian individuals were net buyers at LE 40.37 million.

Egyptian and Arab organizations sold at LE 29.77 million, and LE 43.04 million, respectively, while foreign organizations bought at LE 33.45 million.

Porto Group, Amer Group Holding, and Sharkia National Food were top gainers of the session by 6.37 percent, 6.11 percent and 5.41 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Ezz Steel, Sinai Cement, and Universal For Paper and Packaging Materials (Unipack) were top losers of the session by 7.90 percent, 6.55 percent, and 4.93 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Wednesday’s session on mixed note, as EGX30 rose 0.64 percent, EGX50 hiked 0.05 percent, while EGX70 and EGX100 declined 0.16 percent for each.
